4-6 Weeks

  • Take inventory of the items you wish to keep and take with you to your new home.
  • Contact an EVL representative to get an estimate for your move. Depending on the size of your move you may require a visual estimate.
  • Have a yard sale or donate unwanted furniture.
  • Clean and organize your closets, garage, and/or attic.
  • Finalize your moving date with your EVL representative.

2-4 Weeks

  • Order packing supplies with your EVL representative.
  • Start packing unused items and leave the essentials for later.
  • Get a change of address form from your local Post Office.
  • Contact the utility companies (including telephone) and give them your new address and contact information.
  • (If you have a gas dryer, only your electricity provider is allowed to disconnect it. So make arrangements to have this done before your move.)
  • Get parking permits if necessary.

1 Week

  • Finish packing and try to group your boxes according to their destinations. (Bedroom, dining room, etc…)
  • Drain gas powered lawn mowers or trimmers, now would be a good time to drain them of gasoline.
  • Make arrangements for your pets.
  • Prepare payment for the movers.

Last Minute Details

  • Make sure all entrances to your home are clear for easy access.
  • Do a last minute walk-through to make sure you haven't forgotten anything.
  • Notify your sales representative if you will be unavailable at anytime during your move.
